New Apple Laptops
One of the recent new Apple laptops we reviewed was the Apple Macbook Pro model MB166LL/A which is basically a thing of beauty. With the 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6 MB of on-chip shared L2 cache, and 2GB of DDR2 PC2-5300 memory, this is definitely one of the higher end new Apple laptops available today.
Installed on the 250GB SATA hard drive is the Mac OS X version 10.5 Leopard operating system. Leopard is currently being installed on many Apple Mac laptops. The additional drive was a DVD/CD dual layer burner optical drive.
New Apple laptops are being offered with the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi wireless technology for faster, further wireless connections. Bonjour has the ability to let you easily share your files over the network. Airport will allow you to connect to a printer over the wireless network as well.
During our Macbook Pro review we noted the quality and clarity of the 17-inch matte TFT widescreen display with a max resolution of 1680 by 1050. This brilliance was due in part to the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512 MB of GDDR3 SDRAM and dual-link DVI.
Another nice feature on some new Apple laptops that we would like to mention is the built-in ambient light sensor which will adjust the keyboard and display brightness if you happen to be in a low light setting such as a dark airplane or conference room. We found this to be quite a nice extra touch of detail.
